Wednesday 11th December – bike ***** - A circuit of Felixstowe taking in the new Trimley footbridge and Landguard – sunny.

My original plan was to head to Levington for some foiling to make the most of the nice forecast breeze and winter sunshine with a balmy 8 degrees, but when I woke although it was sunny, the wind was light and it was struggling to make 4 degrees! So, as it was a lovely winter day, we decided to get the bikes out so after breakfast we headed to Trimley in search of the huge new foot/horse bridge over the Ipswich railway line. We went along the road which we are not overly keen on as there are loads of motorists doing their best to knock you off, we passed the two churches and turned off at Gun Lane and away from the traffic. Now on farm tracks and footpaths the massive green bridge came into view, there is a very long slope to the top, designed for horses with the aim to get rid of several local level crossing as there has been a few accidents! Now in farmland to head over but we fail to see any deer as we reach our favourite tree arched footpath back to Felixstowe. We stop as a bunch of Long Tailed Tits flit past and the path is pretty muddy making Mag a bit nervous! We see some huge farm plant just finished picking sugar beet, they did well to get it out of the ground as it was so wet! We carry on through the busy docks, Mag heads straight to the prom while I turn right to the viewing point, through Landguard Reserve and onto the prom. Arriving home starving after being out 2hrs 30 mins, covering 13.50 miles, it was great to be out on the bikes in lovely winter sunshine:) Loads of wind forecast in the coming days but a tad chilly so will wait and see if I get out windsurfing, we are off to Devon for Christmas and Weymouth is looking windy so hope to get a sail down that way:)
